Located in Mareuil-sur-Ay, the Maison Phillipponnat boasts approximately 5 centuries of history and tradition and is today led by Charles Philipponnat, who carries on the enormous prestige acquired over time. The company is universally acclaimed for the excellence of the wines produced including the Clos des Goisses, with grapes coming from the 5.5-hectare vineyard of the same name. The rest of the company's vineyards are distributed between Mareuil, Ay, Mutigny, and Avenay. The Rosé is a blend with a majority of Pinot Noir, additions of Chardonnay, and a pinch of Pinot Meunier. The grapes are sourced in Grand and Premier Cru vineyards located in Mareuil-sur-Ay. The fermentation takes place partly in steel and partly in barrels. The wine then ages for 36 months on the lees. It is an elegant and mature Champagne, delicate and fruity with a salmon pink color and orange nuances. The nose is fragrant and broad and reveals aromas of small red fruits, cherries, strawberries, and citrus peels. On the palate, it is fresh, lively and juicy. It reveals an excellent balance between refreshing acidity and fruity character. The finish is long and pleasant. It is excellent as an aperitif with salmon, smoked fish, and also with white meats.
