Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 1956 by André Bonhomme and his wife Gisèle, with 4 hectares of vineyards inherited from André's father Joseph, Domaine Bonhomme is located in Viré, in the Saône-et-Loire department. Today, the estate extends over approximately 14 hectares and is managed by André's children who continue the meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar to produce high-quality wines and carry on the family tradition. Mâcon-Villages Vieilles Vignes is made with Chardonnay grapes from three vineyards, located above the villages of Viré and Clessé. Here, the vines, over sixty years old, are grown organically, without the use of chemicals. After manual harvesting and cold fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the finished wine rests on the lees for 1 year. In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant color with golden tones. Its aromatic profile is elegant and broad with notes of Golden Delicious apple, pear and stone fruit, honey, almond blossom, and wild fennel. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied, rich and ripe with a creamy texture and a lively acidity that gives balance and refreshes the palate. The finish is long and persistent and recalls notes of ripe fruit and a strong mineral vein. It is excellent with veal escalopes, snails Burgundy style, pork fillet with apples, and butter-poached lobster tails.
