Merchant's description

Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. A pale straw yellow in the glass, this is a powerful, top-class Riesling, from the high-altitude Windsbuhl vineyard. A testament to the precise style of Riesling that can be achieved in Alsace, this wine is bursting with pure notes of lemon, stone fruit, petroleum, and saline minerality. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht has been one of the most consistent producers in Alsace, with a rich heritage dating back to 1620. The modern winery was founded in 1959 and is owned and operated by Margaret and Olivier Humbrecht, a steadfast winemaking duo, who were joined by their sons in 2019. It spans 42 hectares of Alsatian land, encompassing an array of Grand crus and unique terroirs. Windsbuhl is remarkably dry in the mouth, showcasing powerful acidity and complex fruit flavours. Windsbuhl is usually one of the last Riesling vineyards to be harvested by Zind-Humbrecht, due to the location’s cool, slow-ripening climate. Look for elegant notes of lime zest, nectarine, honeysuckle and white peach. These are enveloped in a cool, rocky minerality, gained from the thin soils carpeting a limestone bedrock. Consider pairing it with spiced Asian dishes, poultry, or seafood.
