Drink it now or cellar for up to 3 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded by Alejandro Vigil, Catena's winemaker and Adriana Catena, El Enemigo is a young Argentine winery that immediately achieved great success. The winery produces small quantities of wines that are affordable and highly expressive of Mendoza's diverse terroirs. The estate's vineyards are mainly located in the Uco Valley wine region, where the altitudes and cool climate guarantee the production of grapes, and consequently wines, of great quality and excellent complexity. The Chenin Blanc grapes come from approximately 50-year-old vines, planted in pergolas on soils composed of calcium carbonate and red clay, located in Los Arboles. After fermentation with wild yeasts, the wine is decanted into temperature-controlled steel tanks. Finally, it is bottled without fining or filtration, to ensure the full expression of the grape variety. The wine has a young and fresh aromatic profile, with intensely fruity notes and some floral hints. On the palate, it has a medium body and lively acidity. It is fruity, dry, soft, and with a moderate and well-balanced alcohol content. It has a long finish with a salty touch that makes it perfect in combination with pork, especially if served with an apple sauce, and with fish and seafood.
