Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1991 by Roberto Gatti, Ferghettina is now one of the most renowned wineries in Franciacorta. The estate extends across approximately 200 hectares of organically farmed vineyards and is now managed by Gatti's sons. A unique feature of this winery is its use of a square-bottomed bottle, designed to maximize the benefits of yeast autolysis during aging. Ferghettina Brut Franciacorta is an elegant sparkling wine made from Chardonnay with a small addition of Pinot Noir, harvested from vineyards planted on clay-limestone soils located in the Franciacorta DOCG appellation area at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. After alcoholic fermentation and secondary fermentation in the bottle, according to the traditional method, the wine ages on the lees for two years. The result is a brilliant straw-yellow wine enhanced by a persistent, fine perlage. On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and lively aromatic profile, with fresh fruity notes of citrus, apricot, and yellow plum, along with floral touches, followed by hints of bread crust and brioche. On the palate, it is savory, crisp, and ample, with a soft, creamy mouthfeel and a long, elegant finish. It is the ideal wine with fried calamari, steamed seafood, and sushi.
