Cellar for up to 7 years. No need to decant before serving. This big bold Zinfandel is a generous full-bodied wine which opens with enticing notes of blackcurrant, dark cherries and ripe plums. The first sip reveals smooth tannins, velvety texture, and very long finish with hints of dark chocolate, smoky tobacco, and roasted coffee beans. The typically intense flavor profile of the Zinfandel variety is enhanced by the use of old vines which produce grapes with more concentration and depth of flavor. The result is a powerful red which is ideal to pair with hearty red meat dishes like steak, beef stew, or roast pork and lamb. While it is drinking very well now, the wine will continue to develop over the next 6 years or so. The Mettler family have been growing grapes in California’s Lodi Valley since the late 1800s. Today the family retain control of every aspect of the winemaking process on their estate where they insist on farming organically. They also pursue a sustainable approach to grape growing and winemaking to ensure the land is preserved in perfect condition for the future generations of the family who will take care of this stunning property.
