Drink it now or cellar for up to 30 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in southern Tuscany, among the beautiful hills of the Val d'Orcia (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Podere Forte is a large estate founded in 1997 by Pasquale Forte and designed to be self-sufficient. It is a small agricultural microcosm, where vineyards alternate with olive groves and a botanical garden, and biodiversity is an integral part of the system. The Sangiovese grapes come from the finest plot at Podere Petrucci, called Anfiteatro, a vineyard of approximately 2.5 hectares located at an altitude of 460 meters above sea level. Here, the bush rained vines, cultivated according to organic and biodynamic practices, enjoy a southwest exposure and are rooted in soils composed of schist, with a mix of superficial clay. After manual harvesting and rigorous selection, fermentation occurs spontaneously in French oak vats. The finished wine ages for approximately two years in French oak and then another two years in the bottle. This powerful and distinctive Super Tuscan reveals an intense, brilliant ruby color with garnet highlights. Its aromatic profile is rich and ripe, with notes of dark fruits such as blackberry, blueberry, and wild raspberry, along with dried Mediterranean herbs, interspersed with tertiary aromas of coffee, tobacco, and spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and bold, elegant and round, with powerful, well-integrated tannins and good concentration. The finish is long and complex, evoking earthy and savory notes. Try it with roast pork.
