Merchant's description

Drink now or cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for an hour before serving. Set in Chile’s Central Valley, Vina San Pedro was founded in 1865 and is one of the oldest and largest wineries in the country, with a history of producing high-quality wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region. Vina San Pedro is especially committed to sustainability, using environmentally friendly practices wherever possible including minimal water usage and avoiding excessive chemical treatments. This premium Chilean wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, and Syrah grapes. It’s named after the treacherous waters around Cape Horn, which are known for their intense winds and currents, a reference to the passionate character of this punchy red. The grapes for this wine are carefully selected from the best vineyards in the Maipo Valley and Colchagua Valley. They are hand-harvested and undergo a long maceration period to extract the maximum flavor and tannins. The young wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 18 months followed by a further 12 months of bottle aging for additional polish and complexity. Expect bold flavors, rich texture, and an ability to age gracefully for years to come. It is a powerful wine that will pair well with rich, hearty dishes such as grilled meats, stews, and strong cheeses.
