Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Chateau de Meursault is an ancient Burgundy estate with over a thousand years of history, having passed through various owners. In the early 19th century, the Serre family significantly expanded the vineyards, which today span nearly 65 hectares spread across 110 parcels, including Premier and Grand Cru sites such as Les Charmes Dessus, Les Charmes, and Les Perrières. Since 2012, Château de Meursault has been owned by the Halley family. The Pinot Noir grapes for Château de Meursault's Savigny-Lès-Beaune come from several hilltop parcels. Here, the vines, currently in organic conversion, are rooted in brown clay-limestone and stony soils. After manual harvesting, a period of pre-fermentation cold maceration, and alcoholic fermentation, the finished wine ages for 15 months in barrels (30% new). On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and fragrant aromatic profile with a distinct fruity character and underlying notes of licorice and menthol. On the palate, it is structured and soft, concentrated and smooth. It has a good acidity that adds freshness, velvety tannins, and a long, fruity finish. It pairs perfectly with herb-crusted rabbit, tagliatelle with mushrooms, and soft cheeses like Chaource.
