It was founded by the Jessiaume family in 1850, but these days it is in the safe hands of Dr Jean-François Le Bigot, who has ushered the winery into the modern era of organic and minimal intervention viticulture. Domaine Jessiaume gets its grapes from a variety of fantastic appellations and Premier Cru’s within the Côte de Beaune - many of which are important stops on your journey through Burgundian wine. “Les Cents Vignes” is one such Premier Cru, with a wonderful clayish limestone soil that gifts its wines with a strong earthy and mineral vein. Les Cents Vignes is a 100% Pinot Noir wine, appearing with a vivid scarlet hue in the glass. Inquisitive notes of mulberry, raspberry, damp earth and pepper rise to the forefront of the nose. It is a medium-bodied wine but contains an intense, focused backbone of pure fruit that gives it a formidable character. Look for a core of red cherry, raspberry, lilac and mushroom, with a subtly mineral finish. When pairing this wine, try it alongside a thick mushroom risotto, soft cheese, or a hearty lamb chop.
