Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years. Serve chilled. After spending 20 years establishing Chateau Ste. Michelle as a global wine brand and putting Washington State on the map for premium wines, in 2003 Allen Shoup decided to create a brand-new projected focused on the Columbia Valley. Long Shadows is a collaboration with top international winemakers who all bring their own unique vision and talent. The project has already enjoyed considerable success, having been named “Winery of the Year” by Food & Wine magazine. This stunning Riesling is inspired by the great white wines of Germany, and specifically the wines of Armin Diel. Fruit is sourced from The Benches in Horse Heaven Hills which provides plentiful minerality and Sagemoor Darms which brings plenty of citrus notes and freshness. The fruit is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the acidity and aromatics, producing a light, well-balanced wine with lots of character. On the nose expect attractive white floral notes, lemon zest and kumquat, while the first sip reveals a mouthwatering freshness, light body and pure, clean finish. There’s a lingering sensation of vibrancy on the finish and a touch of residual sugar which makes this a great aperitif or match for spicy Asian dishes.
