The famous Australian winery Penfolds was founded by Christopher Rawson Penfold, a young English doctor who emigrated to Australia at the end of the 19th century. He brought with him some cuttings of French vines that he decided to plant around his house, starting the history of what is now one of the most prestigious wineries in the country. In the 1950s, it was the oenologist Max Schubert who created the Grange blend, a historic cuvée and flagship wine, attracting worldwide attention to the company. The Riesling grapes are selected in the Eden Valley, where the cool climate and altitude guarantee the production of high-quality Riesling with excellent aging potential. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel to maintain its racy acidity and its aromatic freshness. The Penfolds Bin 51 Riesling has a limpid and light color with greenish reflections. On the nose, its aromatic profile is fragrant and lively with fresh notes of citrus fruits, lime zest, white flowers, and some tropical hints. On the palate, it is refreshing and juicy with a vibrant concentration of citrus and tropical fruit notes. It has a strong mineral streak and all the invigorating acidity typical of Riesling. The finish is fresh, long, and thirst-quenching. It goes well with fish and seafood tartare, vegetarian cuisine, and fish and chips.
