Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Storm Wines is a small South African winery founded by Hannes and Nathalia Storm and renowned for its top-quality wines. Production focuses on cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietals from single vineyards, cultivated using sustainable practices. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from a low-yielding vineyard of just over one hectare, located approximately 330 meters above sea level on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, facing east. The vines, less than 20 years old, are rooted in infertile clay and stony soils, typical of the Bokkeveld. After harvest and spontaneous fermentation, the finished wine ages for 11 months in French oak barrels and a small portion in terracotta amphorae. In the glass, Storm Ridge Chardonnay reveals an energetic, vibrant aromatic profile with notes of green apple, citrus, and lemon zest, set against a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is crisp and pure, lively and elegant, with bright acidity, moderate alcohol, and a refreshing finish. It's a well-balanced and mature wine, capable of aging elegantly for a few years, but perfect for drinking now. Try it with roasted trout or clam chowder.
