Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant. The Serbian Djokovic Winery was founded in 2020 by Goran Djokovic, uncle of the famous tennis player. The winery is located in the renowned Šumadija wine region, near Topola, in the central part of the country. Viticulture here dates back to the times of the Roman Empire, and the unique soil and climate conditions are extremely favorable to the production of high-quality wines. However, the country's winemaking revival dates back a couple of decades, thanks to small producers who have succeeded in recovering the local traditions and making wines of great international acclaim. The Djokovic Winery focuses its production on just two wines, aiming for moderate quantities to promote quality. This wine is a blend of Chardonnay grapes with a small addition of Viognier, which lends a floral elegance and creaminess to the palate. The grapes come from the estate's vineyards, spread across the fertile soils of the area. In the glass, the Djokovic Chardonnay displays an intense straw yellow color. Its aromatic profile is broad and expressive, with notes of citrus and stone fruit, pear, and melon, interspersed with floral and mineral notes on a buttery, oaky background. On the palate, it is silky, easily approachable, and round, with a well-balanced, refreshing acidity and medium body. The finish is long and delightfully buttery. Try it with scallop risotto, fettuccine alfredo, or chicken Milanese.
