How to connect WineGenie to Claude or ChatGPT, what to do when an answer looks wrong, and how merchants get their listing corrected or removed.
Connecting an assistant
WineGenie runs an MCP server at https://winegenie.com/mcp. It needs no account and no key.
- Claude (web, desktop or mobile): Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. Paste the URL, leave authentication empty, then enable WineGenie in a chat's tool menu.
- ChatGPT: Settings, Apps & Connectors, turn on developer mode under Advanced, then Create and paste the same URL.
- Other clients (Cursor, and anything else that speaks MCP): point it at the URL. Clients that only speak stdio can bridge with npx mcp-remote https://winegenie.com/mcp.
Then ask your assistant something like "a smooth red for a dinner party under £25". It should name real bottles with prices and links.
When an answer looks wrong
Tell us what you asked and what came back, at hello@winegenie.com. The things most worth reporting:
- A wine attributed to the wrong country, region or grape. Some of those facts are inferred by us rather than stated by the merchant, and every page says which, so these are the errors we most want to hear about.
- A price or a stock claim that does not match the merchant.
- A buy link that does not reach the right product.
We do not invent tasting notes, ratings, reviews or stock levels. Where a page shows a critic score it came from the merchant's feed and is a critic's score, not a customer rating.
For merchants
We list a merchant only with their agreement, and we stop the same way. Email us and:
- Corrections go in at the next daily refresh. If your feed is right and our page is wrong, that is our bug and we want it.
- Removal is honoured within one working day, with no argument and no retention of your catalogue.
- Joining takes a feed, or in many cases nothing at all if your store already publishes a product list. See how it works for merchants.
Availability
This is a research project, not a funded product, and it is run by one person. The site and the MCP server are monitored and the catalogue refreshes daily, but there is no uptime guarantee and no paid support tier. If the server is down, an assistant will simply fail to reach it and should tell you so.
