Alpha Estate is a prestigious Greek winery listed among the 100 best wineries in the world by Wine & Spirits Magazine in 2014. The company, founded in 1995 with 7 hectares of vineyards, quickly achieved great critical and commercial success and today spans approximately 220 hectares across six vineyards. Alpha One is Alpha Estate's most iconic wine, produced from a selection personally curated by Angelos Iatridis of the wines that best express the Amynteo terroir each year. The blend may vary from year to year, but the grapes come from the estate's vineyards located at an altitude of 600-700 meters. After manual harvesting and oak fermentation, the wine ages for 36 months in new French oak barrels (renewed after 18 months) before bottling, then another 18 months in the bottle. The result is a wine with a great personality that reveals an intense, dark ruby ​​color and a rich, powerful aromatic profile. The nose opens with notes of plum and cherry, followed by hints of pepper, leather, vanilla, and licorice, on a background of tobacco leaves and bitter chocolate. On the palate, it's full-bodied and concentrated, complex and distinctive, with a well-balanced acidity and round tannins. The finish is long, warm, and persistent, echoing the tertiary aromas perceived on the nose. Try it with game, beef brisket, or dry-aged rib-eye steak.
