Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Altos Las Hormigas is a renowned Argentine winery located in Mendoza for approximately 30 years. The company owned by partners Alberto Antonini, Attilio Pagli, Carlos Vazquez, and Antonio Morescalchi, extends over approximately 40 hectares of vineyards, located in some of the best terroirs of the Uco Valley. The Malbec grapes are selected and hand-harvested from vineyards located near the Tunuyán River in Paraje Altamira and in the Gualtallary area. Here the alluvial soils rich in calcium carbonate guarantee the production of an elegant and mineral wine. The finished wine is aged for 18 months in a mix of 3500-liter foudres and concrete tanks and then left to rest in the bottle for a further 12 months. The Malbec Riserva from Altos Las Hormigas has an intense red color with light purple hues. Its aromatic profile is fresh and complex with notes of plum and cassis, orange peel and pepper, and some balsamic and undergrowth nuances. On the palate, it is juicy and mineral. It has a good body and a marked acidic streak. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated. The finish is long and fruity. Red meat and mature cheeses are the best pairings for this excellent, and great-value Argentine Malbec.
