The Au Bon Climat Hildegard 2020 is an oak-aged white wine of Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Aligoté. This Burgundian-style blend – intended to reflect the original grapes planted in the Corton-Charlemagne vineyard in the 9th century, spent 24 months maturing in new Francois Freres French oak barrels. Au Bon Climat was founded by the late Jim Clendenen in 1982 and continues to produce hugely popular Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from a variety of sites around California’s Central Coast. The wines of ABC, from the most accessible Classics series to the long-aged Blue series, seem to find a perfect balance between Old World restraint and New World approachability. "This Burgundian-minded blend of 50% Pinot Gris, 45% Pinot Blanc and 5% Aligote is exciting to try each vintage. This year`s is rich yet zesty, starting with aggressive aromas of lemon juice, baked apricot, cream and toast on the nose. The palate is layered in hazelnut, lemon confit and unabashed oak flavours, proving creamy in texture yet blasted with persistent acidity." Wine Enthusiast, 2022
