Barbaresco Asili Riserva Giacosa Magnum 2004
Barbaresco Asili Riserva Giacosa Magnum 2004 is a dry, full-bodied red from Nebbiolo (Barbaresco, Italy), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are firm and acidity very high; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 22-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with beef stew, mushroom risotto, steak, lamb.

Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva 2004 is a full-bodied Nebbiolo red wine from the Barbaresco appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. From 1961 until his death in 2018 Bruno Giacosa was behind some of the most celebrated vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco ever produced, and his famous red-label wines from these appellations have deservedly achieved iconic status. Produced from Nebbiolo panted in calcareous clay soils in the renowned Asili vineyard, this is one of the most sought-after wines in the Giacosa range. The 2004 is available here in magnum format. "The 2004 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is every bit as spectacular as it has always been. I remember tasting the 2004 with Bruno Giacosa and Dante Scaglione before it was released, and making a note to buy as much of the wine as soon as it hit the market. I have never regretted that decision. Explosive, deep and powerful, the 2004 Asili will reward readers lucky enough to own it for several decades. On this night, it is simply sublime. Not surprisingly, the 2004 is also one of the favourites of the group." Vinous, 2017
