Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja Giacosa 2001

750 ml Nebbiolo Piedmont, Italy 2001

Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja Giacosa 2001 is a dry, full-bodied red from Nebbiolo (Barbaresco, Italy), in the medium, savoury reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity very high; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 25-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with beef stew, mushroom risotto, bolognese, lamb.

Merchant's description

Known at the `Genius of Neive`, Bruno Giacosa wines are broadly considered to be the greatest in the region. The 2001 Rabajà was reviewed by Wine Spectator as follows, `Pretty berry, plum and cherry character with lots of toasted oak in the midpalate. Full-bodied, with silky tannins. Big and structured wine, in a subtle way.`
