Barolo Rocche dell`Annunziata Riserva Paolo Scavino 1997
Barolo Rocche dell`Annunziata Riserva Paolo Scavino 1997 is a dry, full-bodied red from Nebbiolo (Barolo, Italy), in the medium, savoury reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity very high; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 29-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with beef stew, mushroom risotto, bolognese, lamb.

Paolo Scavino Barolo Rocche dell`Annunziata Riserva 1997 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Nebbiolo red wine from the Barolo appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. Enrico Scavino has for decades been a tireless seeker of refinement of his family`s wines, even designing a bespoke fermentation vessel used exclusively for his Barolos. Each of the family`s Barolo vineyard parcels is vinified separately, allowing them the greatest possible control over the final wine. Enrico is now supported in the running of the business by his daughters Elisa and Enrica. On the 1997 Barolo Rocche dell`Annunziata Riserva. "Very dark ruby. Wonderful aromas of roses, blackberry, violet and liquorice. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and lots of juicy fruit. Turns to fresh mushroom on the finish. Balanced and pretty. Just coming around." Wine Spectator, 2007
