Fratelli Alessandria is one of the most historic wine producers of Barolo, and property of the same family since 1870. The estate consists of approximately 12 hectares, planted to Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Favorita and the rare red grape Pelaverga. Its portfolio of Barolos includes three single-cru expressions. Gramolere, Monvigliero and San Lorenzo, where this release comes from. First produced in 1997, these wines tend to be quite floral, with smooth, sweet tannins even in their youth.
