Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Belle Glos is a California winery located in Santa Barbara and founded by Joe Wagner in the early 2000s. The company, now part of the Copper Cane Wines & Provisions group, is named after Joe's grandmother, who founded Caymus Vineyards in the 1970s. Belle Glos is widely known for the quality of its Pinot Noir, but also produces Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah wines, specializing in single-vineyard wines. The Pinot Noir grapes come from Block 2 of the Eulenloch vineyard, located in the Carneros region. Here, the vines benefit from a microclimate tempered by cool coastal breezes, and clay soils. These conditions favor the production of exceptionally high-quality fruit, which reaches perfect ripeness, developing a bold, complex character and excellent structure. In the glass, the wine reveals a dark ruby color. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with notes of ripe plum, blackberry, blueberry, and dried cherry, followed by hints of coffee, anise, licorice, and dried herbs. On the palate, it is soft and deep, rich and generous, with a fresh acidity and a delightful fruit concentration. It has soft tannins and a long, balanced finish that recalls notes of cocoa and herbs. It is the ideal wine for game birds and lamb, especially when served with red fruit sauces, but it also pairs well with mushrooms.
