Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded in 2007 by brothers José and Javier Moro, the third generation of Bodegas Emilio Moro, Bodegas Cepa 21 is located on a small promontory surrounded by the vineyards of the estate and with a wonderful view. The vineyards of the estate extend over 50 hectares, on silty sand and clay soils, with a northerly orientation. These factors guarantee a perfect and progressive maturation which results in fresh and complex wines. The wines of Bodegas Cepa 21 are widely known throughout the world for their delicacy and elegance. Malabrigo, of which only 5,000 bottles are produced each year, is the most iconic wine of Bodegas Cepa 21. The Tempranillo grapes are harvested from vineyards on north-facing slopes, exposed to the wind, and on sandy-clayey soil with abundant pebbles. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature and the finished wine then rests for 18 months in new French oak barrels. The color is intense with cherry red tones and light violet hues. The aromatic profile is broad and complex with notes of ripe black fruits and spices, balsamic aromas, and some hints of coffee. On the palate, the wine is round and enveloping, ripe and balanced. It has velvety tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long and recalls smoky notes. It goes well with game pâté and roast pork tenderloin with mushrooms.
