Merchant's description

Mugnier Bonnes-Mares 2006 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Bonnes-Mares in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of the Côte de Nuits. The Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru from Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier comes from a narrow 0.36ha plot with vines planted as far back as 1961. Annual production is between 900 and 1500 bottles and has resulted in being an exceptionally highly sought-after wine. "Here the nose actually quite resembles that of the Fuées though the fruit spectrum is slightly more deeply pitched and runs slightly more toward the bluer end with just the barest trace of herbal while sliding gracefully into powerful and impressively broad-scaled flavours that are rich, full, sweet and textured, underpinned by ample minerality on the focused, detailed and solidly long finish. Mugnier agreed with me that this vineyard appears to be hitting its stride as of late and while not quite as good as he would like to see, certainly better than it was only a few years ago." Burghound, 2009
