Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for at least an hour. Podere Boscarelli is one of the most prestigious wineries in Montepulciano, founded in 1962. The company, now managed by the third generation of the family, owns about 22 hectares of vineyards located northeast of Montepulciano at about 300 m above sea level. Il Nocio is a Nobile di Montepulciano produced with Sangiovese grapes harvested manually from their cru Vigna del Nocio. After a maceration period of about 10 days, fermentation takes place in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and the finished wine ages for 18-24 months in Slavonian barrels, before finishing in the bottle where it rests for another year. The wine has a bright and intense color with ruby tones and some garnet nuances. On the nose it reveals a rich and complex aromatic profile with fragrant notes of blueberry, plum and undergrowth, floral hints of violet and dried flowers, and then aromas of cocoa, sweet spices and aromatic herbs. On the palate it is elegant and has a strong character, with dense and well-integrated tannins. It is concentrated and deep, full-bodied and expressive. The finish is long and balanced and recalls fruity flavors. Try it with a porcini mushroom risotto or with red meat or game stews.
