Château Brane-Cantenac is a Second Growth property in Margaux with a long and illustrious history going all the way back to the 17th Century. Nowadays, it is owned and managed by Henri Lurton and has become a standard bearer for the classically styled and long-lived wines of the Left Bank. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, the 2005 is in a wonderful spot and is really hitting its stride. Medium-bodied, elegant and pure, it has wonderful notes of plum, black cherry, tobacco, cedar and smoky earth.
