Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Soldera 2001
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Soldera 2001 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino, Italy), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are very firm and acidity fresh; oak influence is noticeable. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 25-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with steak, lamb, venison, cheese board.

Soldera Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2001 is a full-bodied Sangiovese red wine from the Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy. Soldera was founded by Gianfranco and Graziella Soldera in 1970 and quickly established a reputation for producing some of the most highly sought-after Brunellos which highlight the terroir of their Case Basse property`s Sangiovese vineyards. On the 2001. "Soldera’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is just as it was when I tasted it from barrel last year, which is to say monumental. This silky-textured Brunello offers an array of crushed flowers, spices and deeply-layered dark red fruit in a style that manages to be both delicate and powerful at the same time. Deceptively medium-bodied at this stage, it appears to be holding back much of its potential but will be a remarkable wine in another decade or so. This is a superb effort from Montalcino’s most eccentric producer." Wine Advocate, 2007
