Ca` del Merlo Rosso 1999 from Giuseppe Quintarelli is a complex red blend from the Valpolicella region, crafted from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. This 1999 bottling is produced using a unique method where the wine is racked onto the lees of the estate`s Amarone to undergo a second fermentation. It is then aged for seven years in large Slavonian oak barrels, resulting in a wine of extraordinary structural depth and aromatic complexity. It offers a rich profile of dried cherries, leather and exotic spices, underpinned by a firm tannic backbone and a refreshing acidity from the limestone and basalt soils.
