Merchant's description

Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers 2005 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Sentiers in the commune of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits. Domaine Groffier is a well-respected Burgundy producer, though still somewhat undervalued compared to some of the more famous names. Over recent years, winemaker Nicolas Groffier has sought to reduce the amount of new oak used and prefers minimal racking of the domaine`s wines. On the 2005 Les Sentiers. "The Groffier 2005 Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers offers sweet and at the same time tart black cherry and black raspberry, black tea and blond tobacco, taking on a faintly bitter herbal edge in its finish of humus and caramel-tinged black fruits. This displays formidable density and lightly cooked fruit intensity quite in contrast with the personality of the Hauts Doix but it is much less winsome today, and seems to want yet more time in the cellar, perhaps 5-7 years to permit proper assessment."
