K Vintners is an American winery founded in 2001 in Walla Walla at the foot of the Blue Mountains on the site of an old winery and farm that date back to the late 1800s. The winery is owned by California winemaker Charles Smith who, after years of work in Scandinavia, decided to return to the US and produce wines that reflect the terroir and style of Washington state. The Grenache grapes come from the 38-hectare Powerline Estate Vineyard, located at about 360 meters above sea level. Here the vines are rooted in pebble soils on very draining sand and gravel deposits and benefit from a cool climate that guarantees the production of balanced and complex wines with a marked freshness. Fermentation occurs with whole bunches and indigenous yeasts and the finished wine rests for 18 months in barrels on the lees. K-The Boy is a bold and rounded wine with an intense and vibrant aromatic profile. On the nose, it reveals fragrant notes of ripe strawberry and red plum, blackberry, and dried flowers, followed by slightly peppery and herbaceous notes. On the palate, it is soft and smooth, broad and complex. It has a full body and velvety tannins. It is fresh and lively with a long and well-balanced finish that recalls subtle spicy notes. Try it with roast lamb.
