Château Canet sits in the Languedoc, and this all-Syrah rosé — named Fleur de Charlotte — is exactly what the south of France does so well when it stops trying to be Provence and just gets on with it. Syrah is an unusual choice for rosé, and it shows: there's a faint savouriness beneath the strawberry fruit, a whisper of cracked pepper and wild herbs that keeps things interesting rather than simply pretty. This is a wine for drinking now, ideally cold, ideally outside. The acidity is bright and refreshing without being aggressive, and the finish has just enough grip to hold its own with food.
