Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve well chilled. Chateau Purcari is the oldest winery in Moldova which has an ancient viticultural heritage stretching back thousands of years. In 1827 Tsar Nicholas passed a special decree establishing the first official winery here in what was then called Bessarabia. Today the estate is enjoying a revival thanks to the exceptional terroir of their vineyards which lie close to the Black Sea on rubidium-rich soils similar to those found in Bordeaux. This crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio is crafted from hand-harvested grapes which are vinified using traditional local winemaking techniques. To preserve the natural aromatics and freshness of the grape variety the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and bottled while still youthful. The result is a bright and vivacious white wine which is bursting with notes of lemon zest, orchard fruits and hints of dried herbs and floral fragrance. On the palate there is a mouthwatering freshness, light body and pure, clean finish which makes this a great match for seafood, grilled fish and chicken, sushi and leafy salads. It’s also a great choice to enjoy on a hot summer’s day as an aperitif in the garden or by the pool, perhaps alongside a platter of cheeses or charcuterie.
