Le Clos du Caillou Cuvée Les Quartz Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2001 is a mature, full-bodied Southern Rhône red blend from the historic Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Produced from organically farmed Grenache and Syrah grown on rocky, sandy soils, Cuvée Les Quartz offers a concentrated, richly textured and perfumed CNDP with superb ageing potential. "The 2001 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Quartz was a total shocker, and was easily the best bottle of this I’ve had; more than one taster at this retrospective had it as their wine of the tasting. Giving up phenomenal notes of blackcurrants, beef blood, ground pepper and crushed rock, it flows onto the palate with full-bodied richness, outrageous concentration and a finish that won’t quit."
