Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1996 is a mature blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France. Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is a name synonymous with fine, age-worthy Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which has owned and run by the Brunier family for more than a century. "Medium red. Cherry, roasted herbs, earth, licoricey and an almost exotically sweet note of marzipan on the nose. Supple in the mouth, with notes of pepper and woodsmoke. Seems fresher than the `97 Vieux Télégraphe, but this is not at all dominated by its acids. Finishes with very good length, and tongue-coating but supple tannins." International Wine Cellar 1999
