Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Clos St Urbain Rangen de Thann Pinot Gris 2018 is a Grand Cru white wine from the Alsace region of France. Managed by the vineyard-focused Olivier Zind-Humbrecht MW, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht produces wines of depth, precision and profound ageability from typical Alsatian grape varieties. The estate has been certified biodynamic since 2002. The Clos St Urbain Rangen de Thann vineyard is a steep plot planted on weathered volcanic material in the extreme south of the region. It is the only area of volcanic terroir in Alsace and produces distinctly mineral wines which typically require considerable ageing to reveal their full glories. The 2018 Clos St Urbain Rangen de Thann Pinot Gris carries less than 2g/l of residual sugar. "A giant Alsace pinot gris that’s brimming with smoke, caramelized-pear, cooked-quince and mushroom aromas. Very deep and ripe, but with spot-on harmony, the hint of grape sweetness beautifully woven into its rich and very complex texture. Astonishing finish that’s creamy and salty, smoky and stony all at once." James Suckling, 2020
