`Domaine Michel & Stephane Ogier Côte-Rôtie is the flagship wine of the Ogier family domaine in Ampuis, spearheaded by the dynamic and talented Stephane Ogier. Still a youngster in French winemaking terms, Stephane Ogier is an ambitious, Burgundy-trained winemaker with a goal of sustaining his family`s reputation for creating fine, ageworthy terroir Côte-Rôtie wines, while expanding the family`s reach into other Rhône appellations. "This has a brooding attitude and a darker colour in the glass. It offer coal smoke, tarry notes, black fruits, star anise and even brown spices. On the palate it`s assertive and powerful, delivering mouth-filling red- and dark- plum fruits; it`s sappy and stony, and long tannins press the finish deep. Still needs time. Best from 2018."
