Drink it now or cellar for 15 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1956 in Macon Viré, in the Maconnais wine sub-region of Burgundy, Domaine André Bonhomme extends over approximately 12 hectares of organically farmed vineyards. André is still considered a wine pioneer in the region thanks to his key role as co-initiator of the recognition of the AOC Viré Clessé and co-founder of the Vignerons Indépendants de Saône-et-Loire. Since 2001, the company has been led by André's daughter, Jacqueline with her husband Éric Palthey, a former architect, and their sons Aurélien and Johan. The Chardonnay grapes for the Viré Classé Cuvée Spéciale come from different plots with vines aged between 45 and 75 years, planted on clay-limestone soils. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in a mix of stainless steel vats and oak barrels. This beautiful Viré Classé is a versatile wine with a youthful color with golden green tones. Its aromatic profile is fresh and fruity with notes of pear and apple, hints of hazelnut, and a clear mineral nuance. On the palate, it is lively and round, juicy and soft. It has a medium body and a silky texture. It is smooth and elegant with a long and persistent mineral finish. It is excellent with roasted fish served with white sauces, but also pairs very well with poultry.
