Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the Rhône Valley wine region of France, in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine de Beaurenard is a winery with a long history dating back to the late 17th century. The estate, which spans over 60 hectares of vineyards, has been owned by the Coulon family for eight generations and is now managed by Daniel and Frédéric Coulon with their children. Domaine de Beaurenard Rasteau is a blend of mostly Grenache Noir, Syrah, with small additions of Mourvèdre, sourced from organically and biodynamically managed vineyards spread across slopes and terraces. Here, the vines enjoy excellent sun exposure and benefit from clayey-calcareous, stony soils. After manual harvesting and co-fermentation, the grapes are macerated for 18-26 days. The finished wine then ages in oak vats and barrels for a year. In the glass, the wine reveals a rich and broad aromatic profile with notes of tart berries and wild raspberry, enhanced by hints of Mediterranean scrub and spices. On the palate, it is dense, round, and smooth, with a generous fruit concentration and a distinctive minerality. It is lively and fresh, with a long, persistent finish. Try it with magret de canard, or guinea fowl with herbs.
