Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1984, Domaine de la Pépière is a certified organic French winery located in the village of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre. The estate, led by Rémi Brange and Gwénaëlle Croix, covers approximately 35 hectares of vineyards and produces primarily white wines from the Muscadet appellation and the Val de Loire IGP. The Melon de Bourgogne grapes for this Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie are selected and hand-picked from several vineyard parcels located in Maisdon-sur-Sèvre on the banks of the Maine River. The vines, averaging 25 years old, are grown organically and biodynamically and are rooted in stony soils with granite subsoil. These soil characteristics favor early ripening. After harvesting and spontaneous fermentation, the finished wine rests on the lees until spring before being bottled. The result is a fresh, lively, and fragrant wine that fully expresses the gracefulness of Muscadet wines. On the nose, the wine reveals a citrusy aromatic profile with notes of crisp green apple and pear, followed by mineral and saline hints. On the palate, it is zesty, clean, and light, with a crisp acidity and a long, refreshing finish. It makes an excellent aperitif and pairs well with raw seafood and goat cheese salads.
