Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in Orange, in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, Domaine de Marcoux is one of the most acclaimed wineries in the region. The estate covers approximately 18 hectares of vines and is now managed by Sophie Armenier with her son Vincent Estevenin. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape of Domaine de Marcoux is a blend of a majority of Grenache, with additions of Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault. The organically grown grapes come from 13 plots, distributed throughout the denomination, which therefore include a wide range of soil types (sand, red clay and galets, limestone, white clay, and gravel). Each plot is vinified separately with spontaneous fermentation, and the wines rest in concrete vats and large oak barrels, before blending. The result is a balanced and ethereal wine, elegant and fragrant that reveals a broad aromatic profile with intense notes of red and dark fruits, followed by spicy aromas, notes of garrigue, dried flowers, and a touch of licorice. On the palate, it is flavorful, medium-full-bodied and round. It has a lively acidity that refreshes the palate and fine and velvety tannins. It is characterful and rich with a long and concentrated finish. It is excellent with hare stew or roast lamb shoulder.
