Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Santenay, in the renowned French wine region of Burgundy, Domaine Jessiaume boasts nearly 10 hectares of vineyards, where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir dominate. Production is primarily concentrated in the Santenay area, but the estate also produces wines in other appellations. Today, the domaine is owned by Dr. Jean-François Le Bigot, who has been working to develop the estate with the help of cellar master William Waterkyhnn. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the Clos du Clos Genet, a plot that is property of the domain and it’s enclosed within the Clos Genet. After manual selection and harvesting, and a five-day cold maceration, fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the finished wine ages for a year in oak barrels, a quarter of which are new. In the glass, Domaine Jessiaume Santenay Clos Genet displays an intense and brilliant ruby color. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant with notes of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry, followed by floral and spicy hints. On the palate, it has good structure. It is soft, elegant, and balanced with fine tannins and a velvety texture. It has a pleasant freshness and a long finish reminiscent of ripe strawberries. It is a youthful wine that can evolve well over a few years in the cellar. Try it with grilled duck breast.
