Located in the prestigious village of Meursault, in the French wine region of Burgundy, Domaine Patrick Javillier is a family-run winery with a history dating back to 1945, when Raymond Javillier began producing wine with approximately 2 hectares of vineyards. Over time, and with the arrival of his son Patrick in the 1970s, the estate has expanded and achieved popularity and critical acclaim. Today, the vineyards extend over approximately 11 hectares, and the winery is managed by Marion Javillier and her brother-in-law, Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy. The Pinot Noir grapes come from various parcels on the Les Grands Liards vineyard, located at the foot of the Savigny-les-Beaune hill on a gentle, south-facing slope. Here the vines are rooted in limestone, clay, and gravelly soils. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine ages in oak for 16-18 months. Savigny-les-Beaune Les Grands Liards is a wild and expressive wine with a bright, clear, ruby color. On the nose, it reveals a broad and seductive aromatic profile with notes of raspberry and small red berries, intertwined with spicy notes. On the palate, it is soft, round, and lively, with smooth, ripe tannins and a lively acidity that balances the fruity flavors. It is elegant and medium-bodied and pairs beautifully with veal and game birds.
