Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. The Burgundy domaine Philippe Leclerc was created in 1976 by dividing the family vineyards with Philippe's brother Renè. The estate is located in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of one of the region's most prestigious appellations, and owns approximately 7.5 hectares of vineyards. The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from the Premier Cru Les Cazetiers vineyard, located on a southeast-facing slope in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, characterized by calcareous marl and brown clay soils. Excellent exposure and drainage, along with ideal climatic conditions with cold winters and hot summers, favor slow ripening while preserving freshness. After manual harvesting, the vinification follows traditional procedures with long maceration and approximately two years of aging in oak barrels. The result is an elegant wine, a pure expression of the appellation's exceptional terroir. In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant pale ruby color with garnet highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and expressive, with intense notes of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry interspersed with hints of violet, lavender and spices, on a forest floor background. On the palate, it is fruity and juicy, balanced and fresh. It has a medium body and fine tannins. The finish is long and vaguely earthy. It is a wine that can age very well for a couple of decades, but can already be enjoyed today with hare stew or roast partridge.
