Merchant's description

Cellar for up to 20 years. Decanting for up to 1 hour before serving. Le Rognet et Corton is a youthful Grand Cru wine and Domaine Guillemot’s only Grand Cru wine. It begins with brilliant aromas of orange rind, sour cherry, plum, and small, red hedgerow berries. The vineyard is considered one of the finest in the area, occupying a prime spot on the slopes of Corton, where the soils are red and rich in iron. Domaine Pierre Guillemot is a small winery, located on the edge of a picturesque town square, in the centre of Savigny-les-Beaune. It is run by two brothers, Vincent Pierre, who took the reins from their grandfather, the man who founded the winery in 1946. However, the winemaking tradition in the Guillemot family goes back even further than that - they draw from approximately six generations of winemaking knowledge. In the mouth, Corton le Rognet is a medium- to full-bodied Pinot Noir, with vivacious acidity and tannic hints of cigar box, spice, and cured wood. However, fruit leads the way, with round hints of cranberry, strawberry, and sour cherry, along with notes of truffle, enveloping the palate with each sip. Time in the cellar will only add complexity and character. Enjoy this Pinot alongside a mushroom risotto, roasted poultry, or mature cheese.
