Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it an hour before service. Located in the village of Monthelie, Burgundy, Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is a family-run winery with over 10 hectares of vineyards. The company has been in the hands of Vincent Durrieu, the fifth generation of the family, since 2003. It produces top-quality white and red wines from 18 appellations in the Côte de Beaune, adopting a traditional approach and a strong focus on the pure expression of the terroir. The Pinot Noir grapes for this Monthélie are carefully selected from the estate vineyard, located at the foot of the village. After harvesting and cold pre-maceration, fermentation begins in used barrels. The finished wine then ages in oak barrels (15-20% new) for a year and a half before bottling. Monthélie from Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is a bright wine with purple-red highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and ripe, with notes of cherry and blackberry, cranberry and raspberry, followed by hints of pepper and licorice. On the palate, it is juicy and concentrated, with firm yet well-integrated tannins and a pronounced, refreshing acidity. It has a medium body and a velvety texture. It is smooth, round, and elegant, with a long, slightly spicy finish. It pairs deliciously with poultry and veal, mushroom risotto, and medium-aged cheeses.
