Since the early 2000s, Eben Sadie has produced cutting-edge and characterful wines that have revolutionised the South African landscape and inspired a whole generation of winemakers. His wines are highly sought after, produced in very limited quantities due to Sadie’s meticulous practices, the wines quickly became a must-have for drinkers and collectors alike. 2016 Columella is Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsaut & Tinta Barocca. This 2021 vintage of Columella is a blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault and Tinta Barroca. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in large concrete tanks and is aged in oak barrels (5% new) for 12 months. A deep rich wine, black cherry compote balanced by a mineral graphite backbone, black olive subtle spice and soft round tannins to finish.
