Robert Arnoux Echézeaux 2005 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Echézeaux in the Vosne-Romanée appellation of the Côte de Nuits. Situated on the southern edge of the Côte de Nuits, up the slope from Clos de Vougeot and Grands Echezeaux, Echézeaux is one of the largest Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. This example is from the outstanding 2005 vintage, which produced an abundant crop of ripely fruited, full-flavoured Burgundy wines. "The 2005 Echezeaux smells of fresh black raspberry, coriander and wood smoke, comes to the palate with ingratiating fresh fruit juiciness and refinement of (nevertheless abundant) tannins, offering sweet inner-mouth suggestions of lily and apricot. The finish lingers with considerable subtlety and refinement." Wine Advocate, 2007
