Cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to open it an hour before serving. Château Clarke is named after the Irish family who bought the estate in 1771. After more than two centuries of winemaking, in 1973 the property was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild who dreamed of owning a small and intimate vineyard of which he would make his masterpiece. With his strong passion, he has managed to make Château Clarke one of the most prestigious wineries in his appellation. Edmond de Rothschild Chateau Clarke is an elegant blend of 70 % Merlot and 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon with a completely original Médoc typicality. The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean brings to the terroir a freshness that is found in the aromatic brilliance of the wine. A terroir that proves to be very favorable to the cultivation of the Merlot grape variety, in a region more traditionally known for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine shows a beautiful red color with purple edges. The nose is filled with finely roasted aromas with sappy cedar scents, and notes of blackcurrant and black cherries. On the palate, it is dense, rich, and straightforward quickly revealing silky and delicate tannins. There is a beautiful freshness and a long finish that is both tasty and sugary. It’s clearly a food friendly wine and works deliciously with beef.
