Cellar for up to 10 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. This is a dark and elegant wine, bursting with notes of dried flowers, cranberry, cassis, and sour red cherry. It is a blend from Ribeira Sacra in the northwest of Spain, composed of 89% Mencia, with the remaining 11% being a mixture ofGarnacha, Brancellao, and Merenzao. Translating to “wine yourself”, the concept of Envínate was formed in 2005 in Alicante, where the four primary winemakers met at university. Split between Ribeira Sacra in Galicia and the Canary Islands, Envínate wines are distinctly Atlantic-influenced. The team at the winery aims to make honest wines through the use of minimal intervention winemaking, leaving the vines wild and untamed, and harvesting exclusively by hand. Lousas Doad was sourced from several vineyards in a small town in the Ribeira Sacra DO appellation, where the soils are a combination of schist, gneiss, and quartz. It is juicy in the mouth, exhibiting strong notes of red and black berries, plum, dried rose petals, and leather. The tannins are structured, adding character and body, and will evolve with time. Lousas Doad is a great wine to pair with chorizo sausage, red meat stews, or rich tomato pasta.
